Once upon a time, a wise and prosperous man acquired a magnificent home adorned with an expansive orchard. His joy, however, was not shared by all. In the neighboring old house lived an envious man who was determined to make his neighbor’s life in the beautiful house as miserable as possible.
He took to throwing garbage at the wise man’s gate and indulged in various other spiteful actions.
One sunny morning, the wise man awoke in high spirits, only to discover buckets of trash scattered across his porch. Rather than succumb to anger or frustration, he chose to clean up the mess.
After tidying his porch, he made his way to his envious neighbor’s door, carrying a bucket in hand.
When the envious neighbor heard a knock at his door, he anticipated a confrontation, relishing the thought of finally gaining the upper hand over his prosperous neighbor. To his astonishment, the wise man greeted him with a bucket filled with freshly picked apples, accompanied by a heartfelt message:
“He who is rich in something, shares it with others.”
Moral trail behind this tale:
- The wise man’s choice to respond to negativity with kindness teaches us that our reactions can transform a hostile situation into an opportunity for goodwill.
- Sharing our blessings, as the wise man did, can help dissolve animosity and foster understanding, even with those who may envy us.
- By choosing to empathize rather than retaliate, we open the door for compassion to flourish, creating a more harmonious environment.
